How
Often should I Visit the Dentist?
It’s reccomended that you visit your dentist once
or twice a year, although the frequency of routine
dental visits should be based on individual need,
some people will need to see the dentist more
often than others. Of course, preventing the initial
cavity is preferable to restoring the tooth after
disease has occurred Preventive denstistry is

People at a greater risk for oral diseases should
have dental check ups more than twice a year.
Tobacco and alcohol use, diabetes, pregnancy,
periodontal and gum disease, poor oral hygiene
and certain medical conditions are some of the
many factors that your dentist takes into consideration
when deciding how often you need your dental cleaning
and check up.
Going
to your regular check ups will help to keep your
gums and teeth healthy as well as detect any early
problems such as gum disease, oral cancer and
cavities. The best way to maintain good oral health
is to visit your dentist on a regular basis.
The
American Dental Association (ADA) recommends visits
to the dentist at least once every six months
for a professional exam and cleaning. Regular
dental visits are necessary for the maintenance
of healthy gums and teeth. A six-month period
is a long time in the life of a cavity, and it
is for this reason that visiting the dentist every
six months is important. Regular checkups are
also essential in the fight against gum disease.
Please
don't become the statistic and take care of your
teeth before something happens. An ounce of prevention
can remove a lifetime of problems. Taking a preventive
approach to dental care so your teeth will last
a lifetime. Early detection is a key to avoiding
costly and even painful dental problems. In fact,
the major cause of tooth loss in adults is gum
disease (periodontitis), which can be prevented
with regularly scheduled dental care.
Many experts also believe that periodontal neglect
can contribute to far more severe health issues
such as heart disease. Oral bacteria can affect
the heart when they enter the blood stream and
attach to fatty plaques in the heart’s blood vessels.
This can contribute to the formation of clots
which can obstruct normal blood flow.
